... published our first Sprint Car Pictorial in 1969. In addition to great photography, it provides a recap of the 1968 USAC sprint car season along with a brief narrative of each event and a year-end point
summary. We continued to publish the Pictorial during each succeeding year (ooops! we had some difficulty meeting our tough annual deadline and missed an issue in 1971, however, coverage of the season was combined with our 1973 edition). With our 1974 edition, we began including USAC Dirt Championship competition, now called Silver Crown cars. Our last issue was the 1983 edition. Fans and collectors who have all 14 editions have unbroken coverage of the 1968 through 1982 seasons.
Back issues of most Sprint Car Pictorials are available for $12 each, plus $2.50 shipping and handling. All are in very good to reasonable condition. For collectors, the 1970 edition remains the Holy Grail, having sold out almost immediately following its release (Mahoney's mom bought all 15 of them). The 1971 and 1973 issues are also very difficult to find. Each edition covers the previous racing season. For example, our 1978 edition covers racing during the summer of 1977. And the 1973 edition combines coverage of the 1971 and 1972 seasons. Please keep this in mind when ordering. Contact me to order.
